Ingredients
Filling
2.5 lbs apples (preferred variety)
1/3 cup sugar or brown sugar
1.5 tbsp lemon juice
4 tbsp arrowroot starch
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
Topping
1 cup gluten free cup for cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
8 tbsp (1 stick) melted butter
Instructions
Pre-heat oven to 375.
Peel and cut apples into bite size chunks.
Grease a 8x8 or 9x13 pan. Pan size will dictate thickness of filling.
In a bowl, mix apples, sugar (or brown sugar), lemon juice, arrowroot starch, cinnamon and salt. Spread mixture evenly into baking dish.
In a bowl, mix together gluten free flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Once combined, pour in melted butter. Stir butter in with a fork until mixture is crumbly.
With your hands, sprinkle crumble topping evenly over the apple filling.
Bake for 40 minutes or until mixture is bubbling and crumble top is golden brown.
Let cool before serving. Top with ice cream or caramel syrup and enjoy!
